Ask your kids about school to see what they are learning. Create a relationship with their teachers and an open dialogue. Visit their classroom regularly to see what's happening.
Ask your principal how to get involved in school parent groups such as the PTSO or the School Advisory Council. These groups are required by law to be nonpartisan and are open to anyone.
The Gilbert School Board meets monthly and these meetings are open to the public. You can even speak to the board at a meeting. You elect these members so learn about them, especially with two seats up for re-election this year.
